Special Events Manager

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s Special Events Manager is responsible for managing the logistics of the annual 5K Walk/Run/Mosey, Annual Meeting and other Greater Cleveland Habitat events.
 

Key responsibilities:

5K Walk/Run/Mosey

  • Manages logistics of Walk including familiarization with event software.
  • Solicits in-kind donations.
  • Coordinates the drafting/distribution of promotional materials with marketing team and Director of Development.
  • Manages event staff and volunteers.
  • Functions as a liaison between the organization and vendors including negotiating pricing while working within the budget for the event.
  • Plans and facilitates planning committee meetings including distributing agendas and taking minutes.

Annual Meeting

  • In conjunction with the Director of Mission Effectiveness, manages logistics of the event.
  • Functions as a liaison between the organization and vendors including negotiating pricing while working within the budget for the event.
  • Coordinates the drafting/distribution of promotional materials with marketing team and Director of Mission Effectiveness. 
  • Manages event staff and volunteers.

Other Events:

  • Works with necessary departments to plan and execute neighborhood Rock the Block events related to the faith build or other development partners and any events associated with development partners.
  • Plans and manages logistics of affiliate anniversary celebrations.
  • Plans and manages logistics of development stewardship events.
  • Works with necessary departments to plan and execute affiliate-wide one-time or recurring events.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
     

Qualifications:

 Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Relevant event management certification, such as Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP); Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Professional in Catering and Events (CPCE), or other related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of development, event, and/or program management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365
  • Event software
  • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience working with committees and volunteers.
  • Ability to successfully manage both short-term and long-term responsibilities of the position, including planning and implementation of event goals and objectives.
  • Demonstration of exceptional interpersonal skills in a variety of social and professional settings to ensure good working relationships with colleagues, donors, families, and volunteers.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic
  • backgrounds.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess the ability to function effectively individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and ability to be insurable under commercial insurance.

Preferred:

  • BA/BS degree in related field of study.
  • Relevant event certification is not required with a degree.
  • Classy software program
     

Position Details:

  • Reports to: Director of Mission Effectiveness
  • Full-time, Exempt
  • Workweek: Monday through Friday; with some Saturday hours required.  Hours will be flexible to maintain a five (5) day work week.
  • Targeted range: $45,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment. However, the role also requires occasional work in outdoor environments, particularly during events, home dedications, and build site visits. Candidates must be comfortable navigating active construction sites and community event settings, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Occasional standing, walking, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and use of photography/video equipment may be required.
