
ReStore Utility Associate - Amherst
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore Utility Associate assists with the day-to-day operations of the ReStore including the loading dock, trucks, and store. This hands-on role supports a variety of physical and customer-facing tasks that contribute to the safe, clean, and efficient operation of our ReStore locations. Ambassador of Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity:
The ReStore Utility Associate serves as a representative of Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and interacts regularly with staff, volunteers, donors, and customers. This individual is expected to reflect Habitat’s mission, values, and customer service standards through professionalism, respect, and commitment to quality work. All Habitat employees are expected to conduct themselves ethically, embrace diversity and inclusion, and demonstrate a strong alignment with the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs multiple labor-related activities on a day-to-day basis
- Operates heavy equipment including but not limited to pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts.
- Assists in the set-up (cleaning, sorting, pricing items) of the ReStore.
- Maintains organization of merchandise displays and inventory.
- Interacts positively with donors, volunteers, and customers.
- Provides superior customer service to donors and customers.
- Assists with supervision and guidance of volunteer groups.
- Greets and assists customers entering the store.
- Responds to customer and donor questions with helpful information.
- Helps resolve customer concerns or complaints when needed.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of customer service-related experience, preferably in a retail setting.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to build relationships and resolve issues
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., including furniture, equipment, and fixtures.
- Experience using basic software like Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with the public respectfully
- Strong organizational and time-management skills

Preferred:
- Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish preferred; all applicants welcome
Position Details:
- Reports To: ReStore Manager
- Department: ReStore Operations
- Employment Type/Classification: Full-Time (35–40 hours/week), Non-Exempt
- Targeted Compensation: $15.00 per hour
- Typical Workweek: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
**(Additional flexibility may be required for special events or donation pickups)**

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This position primarily operates in a storefront/warehouse environment with standard associated equipment. Candidates must be comfortable navigating active construction sites and community event settings, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Occasional standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
