Construction Site Supervisor

The Construction Site Supervisor works with groups of volunteers in both a supervisory and instructional capacity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform all general construction tasks, including painting, drywall installation, and finishing, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, heating, plumbing, electrical, flooring, general construction labor, and all other skills necessary for on-time job completion
  • Educate and develop other construction staff and volunteers in all aspects of production and job site management, including regular progress reports on individual team members
  • Accept direct responsibility for specific project sites, including a commitment to a zero-defect partner-family walk-through before final completion
  • Ensure the delivery of quality, on-time production in line with project drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • Maintain a working knowledge of project drawings, volunteer instruction manuals, specifications and other documents associated with each project assigned
  • Exhibit a high level of responsibility for job site supervision, theft prevention, protection of resources, site safety, and site cleanliness
  • Maintain job site paperwork, including but not limited to daily construction reports, volunteer registration, delivery receipts, accident reporting, and incident reporting
  • Prepare and deliver material orders to the Construction Manager
  • Coordinate for the provision of tools, equipment, and inventory for work crews with the assistance of the Construction Manager
  • Think safety and inspect job sites to ensure safety
  • Lead and supervise volunteers on a regular basis
  • Other duties as assigned by management

This hourly non-exempt position is a member of the GCHFH Construction Team and reports to the Construction Director. New Site Supervisors earn between $20 - $22 hour depending on experience.

Position requires:

  • Familiarity with all building trades involved in single-family residential construction, including knowledge of relevant building materials and tools
  • Experience in and familiarity with residential construction framing
  • Project Management experience; ability to read construction drawings preferred
  • Excellent communication, teaching, training, and volunteer management skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check
  • Computer literacy; experience with Microsoft Office, Windows XP, and Excel
  • Commitment to creative problem solving and a cooperative work ethic
  • Applicants are expected to perform demanding physical work and work at high levels with trusses, soffits, gables, etc. as the construction requires
  • Capacity to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Commitment to GCHFH Mission and the principles of HFHI
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently to resolve day to day goals for on-time job completion
