Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity celebrates President and CEO John Litten's recognition on Crain's Cleveland Business 2025 Notable Leaders in Philanthropy list. This honor reflects both his transformational leadership and our organization's growing impact across Greater Cleveland.

Since taking the helm in 2022, John has propelled Cleveland Habitat into the ranks of the top 25 Habitat affiliates nationally. Under his guidance, we've completed over 100 single-family homes in the past five years, established Cleveland's premier major home repair program with 100+ repairs completed in just 15 months, and secured parcels ready for future development.

"I have the best job in the city of Cleveland," John reflects. "I'm blessed to work alongside people who care deeply about Habitat's mission and put that care into action. This recognition belongs just as much to our community, to city leaders, homeowners, volunteers, staff, donors, and friends."

John's leadership extends far beyond construction metrics. His eight years on Lakewood City Council, including two as Council President, combined with decades of nonprofit board service, brings a unique perspective to affordable housing advocacy. He understands that building and repairing homes means building stronger communities.

What sets John apart is his unwavering belief that decent, affordable housing isn't a privilege, it's a foundation for opportunity. This conviction drives every decision, from strategic planning sessions to swinging hammers alongside volunteers on build sites.

As we celebrate this well-deserved recognition, we're reminded of the work still ahead and the families in Greater Cleveland who need safe, affordable homes.
