Cleveland ReStore Truck Driver

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives Habitat box trucks to make donation pick-ups around Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.
  • Provides directions for staff and volunteer pick-up assistants.
  • Meets with donors to discern which donations to accept.
  • Manages gasoline receipts and truck mileage log.
  • Properly loads and secures items on truck.
  • Properly fills out donation paperwork,
  • Unloads truck upon return to the ReStore warehouse.
  • Prepares and places items in ReStore for sale.
  • Dispose of items not for sale, as directed.
  • Keeps staging area and dock organized and clean.
  • Works with and guides volunteers in their roles.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience driving a commercial vehicle
  • Must be able to read maps and use MapQuest or a similar online web mapping service
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs. daily
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record that would align with Habitat for Humanity’s insurability requirements.
  • Must be able to stand for 4 hours
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to always work with the public in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to a cooperative work ethic
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational ability and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and support volunteers
  • Capacity to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Commitment to GCHFH Mission and the principles of HFHI

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Experience driving a box truck is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a mover, including duties related to packing and transporting belongings is preferred


Position Details:

  • Reports to: Donations Manager
  • Job Type: Full-time (35-40 hours); non-exempt
  • Typical workweek: Shift: 8-hour shift, Tuesday through Saturday 8 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Targeted rate: From $17.00 per hour

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This position primarily functions in a box truck as part of their assisting duties. Secondary function operates in a storefront/warehouse environment with standard associated equipment. Candidates must be comfortable navigating these tasks sometimes in varying weather conditions. Seated, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs. with assistance).
