Get Involved: Help make a difference
Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to raise a family in a safe decent home. We believe that this is possible if everyone gets involved.
Habitat needs help attracting skilled leaders and regular volunteers. This helps to facilitate less skilled or first-time volunteers. In addition, we give priority to volunteers and groups that also help raise awareness and resources to support Habitat's mission efforts.

Common Questions About Volunteering
Q: Who can become a volunteer? See Answer
A: Any person who is 14 years or older is eligible to volunteer at Habitat - on a work site, in the office or at the ReStore. Those under 14-
years-old are encouraged to help fundraise and raise public awareness to Habitat’s mission through respective schools, religious, or civic activities.
Q: What are various ways that I can volunteer? See Answer
A: While there are many ways that one can become involved, the most common areas are:
- Helping at our ReStore (Wed, Thurs, Friday from 9 -3; Sat. 8:30 - 1:15)
- Participating on one of our construction projects (Tuesdays – Thursdays and Saturdays. 8:30 - 3:30)
- Assisting with operating our Habitat ReStore (which is a beautiful resale store for
doors, windows, etc.); the ReStore recylcles quality building materials and tools, provides low-cost materials to the community, and raises money for Habitat’s mission)
- Assisting various teams (Family, Development, Finance, and Volunteer) by performing office work such as computer work, administrative tasks or special projects
- Helping to raise money and material donations to support our mission
- Speaking to groups about Habitat; and
- Getting a group involved.
Q: Must construction volunteers be highly skilled? See Answer
A: Not at all. While some of our volunteers are professional tradespeople, most volunteers have rather limited
experience in construction or know what they have learned by working around the house. Many of the jobs
at the site can be broken down and taught in small tasks. Nonetheless, we are always in need of skilled
volunteers and encourage individuals to help Habitat recruit skilled workers (particularly people with
experience in the following areas: heating/duct work, electrical, plumbing, vinyl siding or drywall
installation, or carpentry).
Q: Who supervises the work? See Answer
A: Habitat's Construction Team consists of a full-time Construction Director and two full-time
Construction Managers. These staff members work with the
volunteer House Leaders and volunteer Crew Leaders that supervise each job.
Q: What are some activities that groups can do to support Habitat? See Answer
A: Groups have done and are doing all of the following:
- Sponsor a fundraiser for Habitat
- Coordinate a Tool Drive
- Provide a construction work crew for a day or for a number of days
- Financially support the construction of a Habitat house
- Volunteer at our Habitat ReStore
- Provide professional services (legal, computer-oriented, or other)
- Attract resources to help support our mission
Q: How do I become a volunteer? See Answer
A: You become a volunteer by returning this completed Volunteer Registration Form and Volunteer Interest Sheet. If you have problems using the PDF registration form,
contact the Volunteer Team at (216) 429-1299, ext. 226 or 227.
Once you are registered as a volunteer, contact the Volunteer Team to let us know when you
are ready to volunteer.
