Volunteer — Featured Needs

Our Most Pressing Needs

To help with any of these opportunities, plan to attend one of our upcoming New Volunteer Orientation Events and find out start as an individual or part of a group.

Landscaping Leaders or Crews
  • Need individuals (or companies) that are willing to help maintain or landscape Habitat properties.
  • Finish grade and landscape around new driveways & sidewalks, lay top soil and grass seed, plant shrubs and flowers, or even cut lawns of properties that Habitat owns for future homes. Supplemental Volunteers Needed Tuesdays - Thursday
  • We are in need of a few additional hands to help cut, measure, hang vinyl siding and drywall, install mechanicals (electrical, plumbing, heating), general and finish carpentry, lanscape yards, backfill foundations or help wherever needed. ideally looking for assistance at least one day a week on a construction site where needed (Tu, W, Th 8:30 - 3:30).
Skilled Weekday and Saturday Volunteers
  • Need additional skilled Saturday volunteers to assist with punchlist work, general carpentry, hanging vinyl siding and construction projects. Willingness to work with unskilled volunteers a plus! (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
Project Leaders
    Habitat needs help in specific areas. Perfect for individuals who are willing to lead short-term projects or for groups that have skilled leadership. Current projects are in Garfield Heights, Slavic Village, near eastside of Cleveland.
  • Build a porch, porch roof or back deck
  • Hang vinyl siding
  • Brake aluminum for window frames and house trim
  • Install interior doors, cabinets, and vanities
ReStore volunteers
  • Individuals needed for ReStore efforts (W - F, 9:00 - 3:00 (or any part there of); Sat., 8:15 - 1:15). Assist with the pickup, intake, display and/or sales of quality building materials and tools. Great way to help the community. If interested, we'll find a place for you.

Office volunteers
  • Administrative Support (M - F, min. of 4 hours per week) — data entry, filing, special projects. Provide valuable assistance working with Habitat staff and other volunteers.

Additional Volunteer Needs include:

  • Volunteer Greeter - Orient individual volunteers and groups coming to site; collect and track Habitat volunteer information (Tu, W, Th or Sa, 8:00 - 9:30 AM)
  • Student Internship opportunities
  • Volunteer assistance -- with recruting, orienting, tracking, and acknowledging volunteers - in the office at least four hours a week.
  • Help with outreach to congregations, businesses, community groups, and organizations with skilled construction members
  • Photography -- document ongoing Habitat projects; assemble photos for Partner Families & sponsors; attend special events
  • Internet saavy volunteer to help with Web Page Committee with design and maintenance; knowledge of Dreamweaver a plus
  • Special events volunteer -- to assist with planning house dedications, annual dinner/recognition event, and other public events
