Volunteer - Student Opportunities - Collegiate Challenge

Collegiate Challenge Spring Break

This year, more than 10,500 high school and college students will participate in the week-long service program, building homes around the United States and raising over $1.3 million for Habitat affiliates around the country.

To date, students have raised over $10 million for Habitat through the Collegiate Challenge program. Learn more about the Collegiate Challenge program from the Habitat International Website.

Visiting collegiate groups of up to 12 participants typically come in for a week -- working Tuesday through Friday or Saturday (8:30 - 3:30 daily) -- and help support ongoing Habitat projects. Individual participants are asked to raise money to support Cleveland Habitat's local mission efforts ($100/person). Collegiate groups need to contact Habitat's Collegiate Challenge Division in order to sign up.

Groups enjoy many activities such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Film Festival, visiting students at area universities, attending comedy clubs, dinner with local families, and staying at People's Hope United Methodist Church, which hosts many of our our mission groups.

In 2007, we are thankful for the hard work and efforts of four college groups that came to Cleveland:

  • Bard College
  • Boston College
  • Cornell University
  • Harvard University
